Art and Fiction Fantastique

Tomb Of The Golden Scorpion

Welcome to ZAHRED'S Gallery of Art and Fiction Fantastique, showcasing the work of James William Hjort. Weird Fantasy in the vein of Clark Ashton Smith and H.P.Lovecraft. Graphics inspired through the years by Maxfield Parrish, dante, Howard Pyle and lesser known, or sometimes forgotten greats like Syme, Finlay, Max, and Beardsley.

Much of the work on these pages has seen prior publication thanks to Paul Ganley's Weirdbook Press.

Several of the black and white line artpieces, moreover, have been enhanced by forms of colourizaton or touchup with Adobe. FOUR FANTASY tales, are herein presented, with minor updates and emendations. The last tale, DEATH OF THE SORCERER,written circa 1976, and orignially slated for Arkham House, saw first publication in "The Sorcerer's Apprenticices: New Tales in the Traditiion of Clark Ashton Smith" Ed. James Ambuehl/Ron Shiflet. I am revising it as I have the time. So what you read today may be new tomorrow. CHECK OUT MY NEW PAINTING "ADRAMAS " for the story. Let her sit on your Desktop for a while(wallpaper). I am also contributing to a round robin Ashtonian fantasy: "Dark Day in Zothique". Check Boyd Pearson's: Eldritch Dark . Thanks!!
